20 tion. He became manager of pro duction services in 1968 and in February 1970 he was promoted to assistant director of production. He was appointed director of produc tion the following September. A native of Bessemer, Ala., where he graduated from Bessemer High School, he earned his B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of Alabama. He was named at the University to three honorary scholastic fraternities: Tau Beta Pi, Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Pi Mu, and was a member of Theta Tau fraternity and the student chapter of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers. He served eight years with the U. S. Army, reaching the rank of Captain. He is a member of the Technical As sociation of the Pulp and Paper In dustry. ROBERT K. GEBING has been ap pointed chief accountant in the Ac counting Department. He had been a corporate senior internal auditor prior to this promotion. Before joining Olin in March 1974 he was a certified public accountant in the Miami, Fla., office of Ernst and Ernst. He at tended schools in his native Miami and received an A.A. degree from Miami Dade Jun ior College. He received his B.A. degree in Ac counting from the University of West Florida at Pensacola. He is a member of the American Insti tute of Certified Public Accountants. GEORGE A. WALLACE was appoint ed vice president for manufacturing in the group reorganization October 29. He has been with Olin since June 1953 when he was employed as a food packaging scientist in Film Division's research and Develop ment Department at New Haven, Conn. He was product development supervisor in New York City when the division’s research and market ing departments were relocated to Pisgah Forest in 1963. He moved to Ecusta the next year as market development manager. After other marketing roles he became direc tor of marketing in 1970, and was promoted in 1975 to vice president for international marketing and group services. He completed schools in his na tive Revere, Mass., and earn ed his B.S. degree in Food Tech nology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He later studied at New Haven College's School of Executive Development and at the Harvard Business School where he completed the Program for Man agement Development. He served in the U. S. Army for two years. ARTHUR T. OWEN, JR., has joined the Technical Department as re search associate. He was employed previously by Olin from 1963 until 1968. After summer employment in the Film Di vision he was hired by the Ecus ta Paper Division, assigned to the replacement crew. He had advanced to chemical tech nician when he took leave of ab sence to complete college at Virgin ia Polytechnic In stitute, returning as a process engi neer. He later worked with Burling ton Industries at Greensboro and the Foxboro Co. at Foxboro, Mass. A native of Transylvania County, he graduated from Brevard High School and attended Western Caro lina University for two years. He earned his B.S. degree in Mathema tics at V.P.I., graduating with high honors, and later attended N. C. State University at Raleigh where he has completed all requirements except thesis for a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering. DON B. ROGERS has joined the Technical Department as a process engineer. He came to Olin from Georgia Pacific Corp, at Port Hud son, La., where he was employed three years. Earlier work was with Uniroyal Inc. at Geismar, La. A native of Meri dian, Miss., he graduated from Woodlawn High School at Shreve port, La. He is an honor graduate of Louisiana State University where he received his B. S. degree in Chemistry. He has completed 15 hours' graduate work in Chemical Engineering. He is a member of the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry and the Ameri can Institute of Chemical Engineers. He is a charter member of the Rose land Terrace Civic Assn, in Baton Rouge. CHARLES D. NORLANDER, JR., has been appointed group director of quality control with responsibility for the quality control units at Pis gah Forest, Covington and Water town. He was chief of the paper laboratory in the Ecusta Paper Di vision’s Research and Development Department when he was appointed manager of qual ity control in Oc tober 1968. He began his Olin career as super visor of paper product development in June 1946 after World War II service, having attained the rank of Major in the Infantry. Before the war he had worked three years each with Champion Paper and Fibre Co. at Canton and the Institute of Paper Chemistry at Appleton, Wise. A na tive of New Bedford, Mass., where he attended schools, he graduated cum laude from N. C. State Univers ity with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a member of
